Electrolysis Hair Removal

Electrolysis now available at Laser Skin Solutions, Laser Clinic Bournemouth.

Laser hair removal is the best treatment available for permanent hair removal. Laser treatment may not be suitable for you however if you have white, blonde or red hair. In this instance you may like to consider Electrolysis which is the only alternative form of permanent hair reduction other than laser hair removal.

Our equipment

At Laser Skin Solutions we use the new computerised Apilus Cleo Electrolysis machine. Already in use in thousands of Apilus Centres worldwide, the Apilus Cleo delivers effective and more comfortable treatments than any other form of Electrolysis hair removal. Its computerised high precision circuitry uses application pulses as short as one-thousandth of a second which not only allows us to remove hairs up to 3 times quicker compared to standard electrolysis machines, but also assures incomparable comfort.

So how does it work?

This technique allows us to permanently destroy germinative cells responsible for hair growth. In this respect it is much the same as laser treatment, only with Electrolysis hair removal, we insert a fine probe in the hair follicle and apply an electrical current adjusted to the type of hair and the area being treated.

How does electrolysis hair removal differ from laser hair removal?

The principal behind both laser hair removal and electrolysis hair removal is the same. The aim is to permanently destroy hair growth whilst in the actively growing stage 'anagen' by heating the hair follicle. The difference is in the method. Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) heats and destroys the hair follicle using light, whereas electrolysis uses an electrical current to heat and destroy the hair.

Which is better, laser or electrolysis?

In a nutshell, you would only have electrolysis hair removal treatment if for some reason you were unsuitable for laser. For instance if the hair is white, grey or very blonde and therefore unsuitable for laser, then electrolysis could be an option for you. With electrolysis however, it is only possible to treat one hair at a time making it a much slower process to permanently remove hair from a particular body area than with laser. This therefore makes electrolysis unsuitable for large body areas eg bikini lines, legs etc.
